Christmas is coming …

AND SO IS THE FLOOD OF

UNWANTED
ANIMALS

Litter of pups

IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE NO ONE WANTING THESE ADORABLE PUPS

Full of life, playful and trusting – they have no idea how cruel the world can be to unwanted animals. And we’re determined they’ll never find out.

So, we’ll do our best to place them in homes where they’ll never be hurt or hungry. But there are so many animals like them – and not nearly enough good homes. Especially at this time of the year, when our kennels and cattery fill up with unwanted dogs and cats.

You won’t believe how some people treat their loyal pets. Not as beloved members of the family – but as a nuisance to be dealt with before the family goes off on holiday.

Dumping pets at the SPCA is much cheaper than arranging care at a boarding kennel or cattery. And they can always get another dog or cat when they come back home.

Worse are the owners who don’t even bother to bring their animals to us. They just leave them at home, all alone, without adequate food and water. Or push them out of the car on a deserted stretch of road and speed off without a backward glance.

Heart-breaking as this time of year is for animals (and those of us who love them), spending Christmas at the SPCA isn’t the worst that can happen.

Because here, they are loved. They have a chance. And they’re with people who care about them – over Christmas and every other day.

If you’re reading this, you probably care about animals too. Please turn your compassion into action – by making a donation to help us give these furry orphans a clean and safe temporary home, all the food they need, veterinary care and plenty of love and reassurance all through the holidays.

We are so grateful for every contribution – whether it’s R100 or R10 000. Because, we receive no government subsidy to help fund our vital work for animals. Your gifts, and the generosity of animal lovers like you, are all we can count on.

So please, will you make the decision now to help provide for the animals in our care over Christmas?

Thank you sincerely, and may your own festive season be a reflection of the love and kindness you show towards animals in distress.
