Skabenga

Heartwarming memorial to Skabenga – The Oyster Box cat

For decades, Skabenga – the stray cat that strolled into The Oyster Box Hotel one day and never left – welcomed guests to the hotel. He lived a life of 5-star luxury and became a firm favourite with everyone who visited the hotel.

Sadly, Skabenga passed away in March last year. The hotel held a special celebration of his life in October, during which a beautiful lifelike statue of the tabby cat was unveiled,

Marketing Manager, Tanya Fleischer was invited to attend the ceremony and do a short talk about the work of our SPCA – after which we received a cheque for R22 250.

We thank The Oyster Box for honouring Skabenga in this special way, and for partnering with us to continue his legacy and help his furry friends who find their refuge at our SPCA.

(The QR code on the plaque scans through to a special tribute page on our website, where you can donate to the SPCA in honour of Skabenga.)
