adopted dog

One of our joyful new adoptions of 2026. If you’re looking for a furry addition to your family, please visit our kennels and cattery.

Your kindness touched 100 lives in just one week

Over the festive season – 24 December to 03 January – our SPCA admitted over 100 stray and unwanted cats, kittens, puppies and dogs.  Each one needed documentation, a veterinary health check, a comfortable kennel or catbox, food, blankets and lots of TLC. To say they kept us busy is an understatement! Never have been seen so grateful for our generous supporters, who made sure we had everything we needed to care for each and every animal that came though our doors.

Thank you to our generous donors

Thank you to every individual or company who made donations to help us through this extremely busy period. Your kindness and generosity literally helped save lives.

Although we received 17 reports of lost pets during this Christmas week, only 3 animals have been claimed by their owners so far. Others are still quietly hoping their owners will arrive to take them home, or are waiting to be adopted.

If you have lost your pet, please visit us to check if he or she is here – or call the Kennels department on 031 579 6524/6 during office hours (Mon-Fri 8am–4pm and Sat 8am–12.30pm) to complete a lost pet report. Please ensure your pets are microchipped, as this is the best and easiest way for them to get back to you if they get lost. You can book with the SPCA to have your pets microchipped and affordable rates.

Adopt a pet

We were delighted to see a number of animals going to new homes in early January – thank you for adopting from us rather than buying from pet shops and breeders. We hope your new pets bring years of love and laughter into your lives.

Throughout the month of December, our Inspectors were kept busy. We had 430 calls for collections of stray and unwanted animals and over 930 calls to action – for complaints, follow ups, rescues, pro active checks and pre-home checks.

Thankfully there were no fireworks related injuries this New Year. However, there were incidences of dogs escaping from their yards and being tragically run over. We were also called out to rescue a dog stuck between two walls after having tried to escape the loud bangs.
