Support our brave guests who are sleeping over in our kennels for a night

This year's SPCA Kennel Sleepover takes place on Saturday, 17 August 2024.

We have a whole bunch of dedicated guests braving the cold to raise funds for animals at our SPCA. Please consider sponsoring their chosen 'adoption' fee to get them back home!

Any amount would be much appreciated by them and the furry orphans still waiting to be adopted at our SPCA. Get your friends to join in too, by challenging them to equal or better your donation!

Your support provides food, veterinary treatment, comfort and care for animals that have been neglected, hurt, injured or abandoned. Thank you!

Why people should adopt me: Hi everyone, my name is LOVE and I’m a perky old girl who gets on well with everyone I meet. I love to romp and play with other pets, even cats and especially children, and I never growl or snap. Considering my loyal, kind, and patient disposition, I’m also content to lie quietly while you attend to chores that don’t require my help ... however, the occasional kind words and gentle pat would be greatly appreciated. For my unconditional love, fierce protection, and devotion, I ask you to please help free me from this cold and lonely cage by sponsoring a portion of my adoption fee of R10 000. So that I can go to my forever Home.

My sister and I are keen to raise as much as we possibly can for this incredible cause. We are even willing to endure a night in a cage in the middle of winter. I know I will have my family rooting for me and hope that we can make enough money to be ‘adopted’ and released from the cage. Two of our pets are rescues and have brought so much joy to our family. I encourage anyone who is looking for an addition to their family to start their search at the SPCA. I teach at Our Lady of Fatima DCS who is also doing a SPCA collection at present, so I will be flying the Fatima flag whilst supporting this great cause. PLEASE ‘ADOPT’ ME!

I have left Duke and Roxy at home, as they both spent time in adoption kennels, and now don’t know how to sleep outside and need a couch or human bed. So, I am here representing them ... however, they will be missing ME. Every animal needs a chance to find their FOREVER Home, and the SPCA has always ensured this chance is given.

By adopting me or any other animal, you are saving a loving animal who will become part of the family, and we will free up a kennel space for another animal who might desperately be needing it.

PLEASE ADOPT ME- MY PUPPIES ARE WAITING FOR ME (and my Hubby who is dog sitting).

P.S but I also cannot leave without my sister - Claire Fuller in the Kennel next door - so please adopt us together.

My name is Nerissa from Underground Radio. Here are 5 reasons why you should adopt me. 1. I come with my own supply of dad jokes and an endless supply of snacks – what more could you possibly want?

2. Adopting me guarantees daily entertainment and occasional karaoke sessions that sound EXTREMELY bad, but you will secretly love.

3. I promise to keep your Wi-Fi password safe and only use it to watch cat videos.

4. I make an excellent couch buddy for binge-watching your favourite shows.

5. By adopting me you will be supporting the SPCA and helping lots of homeless animals stay safe and warm until they can find their forever homes!

I am a passionate animal lover dedicated to making a difference in the lives of furry friends. With a heart full of love and a home full of rescues, I have spent years fostering and rehabilitating dogs and puppies in need. For 24 hours, I will be stepping into a kennel to raise funds for a great cause. By "adopting" me, you will be supporting animal rescue efforts by the Duban SPCA.

Rescue animals are more than just pets - they are survivors. They have faced adversity, overcome challenges, and still manage to wag their tails and snuggle their way into our hearts. Every rescue animal has a unique story, a tale of resilience and strength. And every donation has the power to write a new chapter in that story, a chapter filled with joy, comfort, and a second chance at life.

Your generosity can:
- Provide a warm meal and a safe haven for a stray
- Fund life-saving surgery for an injured animal
- Support rehabilitation efforts for a traumatized pet
- Bring a furry friend to a family in need of love

By donating to animal rescue, you are not just changing a life - you are changing the world, one paw at a time.

Let's make a difference together! Join the pack and show your support! Every donation counts, and Tomas and I will be forever grateful for your kindness. Much love, warm wishes and tail wags, Tomas and Sharlene Heaven

Yebo Yes! We are at it again... This year, we are thrilled to welcome additional Dr. Doo-Mores to our team! With our shared commitment, passion, and love for the many animals taken care of at SPCA Durban and Coast, we aim to raise awareness, make a difference, and support them through their unique annual fundraising initiative – the SPCA Kennels Sleepover.

This funevent is creatively and professionally organised by our dear friend, Tanya Fleischer, and her dedicated team in blue and white! Let’s unite to extend a helping hand to our animal friends who need you and me - without our help, where would they be?

I am a huge animal lover, I have 2 fur babies of my own - Kelly a Poodle & Milk who is a Rottweiler. Animals bring us so much joy and become a part of the family, seeing animals without a home really breaks my heart which is why I am doing this to raise funds, there's so many neglected, injured, hungry & homeless animals that need love, care, medical assistance & these costs the SPCA a ton of money. Your donation to adopt me will be helping these animals get a 2nd chance at life, a shot of a loving home & family.

Hello, Billy and Tilanie here, we will be sleeping over at the SPCA for the 3rd year running to raise funds and bring awareness to the homeless animals out there (last we heard there are over 4 million around the world!). Every dog deserves to have shelter, food, basic needs and love. We also love our creature comforts so please adopt us (sorry, we are a package deal!) so we can get back to a comfy, save and dry home, with delicious food and clean water (read wine!). We aim to raise at least R5000 but it will be wagging good if it could be lots and lots more. Remember, adopt don’t shop!

"Adopting" me is a meaningful way to support a cause I'm deeply passionate about. A couple of years ago I did the Imfolozi Outrun in my son Darren's honour to raise funds for anti-poaching, and now I am bringing it closer to home. My commitment to adopting pets rather than buying them speaks to my dedication to improving the lives of animals in need, and I would really appreciate your support. By choosing to sponsor me, you're not just supporting my night in the kennel; you're providing these animals with the care, love, and second chances they deserve. Together, we can make a tangible difference in their lives and promote a more compassionate community.

Calling on all kind souls! I’m Alexa, and I’m taking on the challenge of spending a night in the SPCA kennels to raise funds for our furry friends. By 'adopting' me, you're not just helping provide a safe and warm place for these adorable animals, you're also supporting my goal to raise R4000! In a world where the news is often filled with troubling events that feel beyond our control, this is a chance to make a real and tangible difference in our community. Every rand goes towards food, medical care, and cozy shelter for animals who rely on the kindness of the community to survive. Your support means the world to me and all the critters counting on us!

HELP! I've decided to brave the cold night on 17 August and sleep over in a kennel at the Durban & Coast SPCA.

WHY? Because the Durban & Coast SPCA have over 13 000 animals a year that go through these kennels, feeling lost, abandoned, alone, scared, maybe even traumatized by their previous owner. Without YOU, the SPCA would not be able to ensure that these animals feel safe, loved, warm. I am challenging YOU to donate whilst I challenge myself to “be a stray dog in a kennel”.

YOUR DONATION will secure my release from the kennels and will be put to good use to feed, provide medical care, blankets and beds for the animals here and help find them a new loving forever home. I'm going to experience what an abandoned dog feels, going from a home with a family and a warm bed into a kennel. They might be here for 5 days, or maybe even 8 months before finding a new home, I'm only here for 1 night.

MY TARGET is R15 000. So please donate so I can help these fur babies find their forever home. My birthday month is August so please donate as your birthday gift to me!

'ADOPT' me by donating towards my release.
'VISIT' me in my kennel at the Durban SPCA from 4-6 pm on 17 August.
'SHARE AND LIKE' Durban & Coast SPCA page to keep up to date.

I hope you can come and I hope you can support me so that I can support homeless animals.

I have two little baby boys, Asgar – Pomeranian royalty – and Kalder – hooligan Boss. They show me every day what unconditional love looks like. The circles, bunny hops, tail wags, snuggles and kisses are not dependent on what I give them; neither do I have to earn it or prove I’m worthy – it’s given freely and abundantly, simply because I exist.

I would love to see as many people as possible experience this level of love, and you can by adopting your little baby from the SPCA – you may not be the one rescuing him/her; they may just rescue you.

Love and hugs Kas

Join Me in Honoring My Mother's Legacy at the SPCA Sleepover! I'm excited and deeply honored to participate in the SPCA's annual sleepover, a cause that has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember.

My mother dedicated many years of her life working at the SPCA and I practically grew up there, surrounded by the love and joy of countless amazing animals. We've adopted many furry family members from the SPCA, each one bringing incredible joy and companionship.

As an only child, I often found comfort and companionship in the animals at the SPCA. Their unconditional love and warmth filled the gaps of loneliness and taught me about resilience and joy.

This year, the sleepover takes place on 17 August – my late mother's birthday. I can't think of a better way to honor her memory than by continuing to support the animals she cared so deeply about. By sponsoring me, you're not just supporting my participation – you're honoring a legacy of love and compassion for animals. Every donation helps provide food, medical care, and the hope of a loving home for these animals.

I've set a target of raising R3000, and I know that together we can surpass this goal. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of the animals that meant so much to my mom and to me. Any amount, big or small, makes an impact. Please also share this message with your network. The more people who know, the greater the impact we can have. You're welcome to visit during the event from 4-6 pm to show your support and celebrate this special occasion with me.

Thank you for joining me in honoring my mother's legacy and supporting the SPCA's mission to provide love and care for animals in need.

How you can get involved

If you love animals, please support our efforts to protect them from cruelty and neglect. There are lots of different ways to help.

Sponsor a Yard Cat

Provide care and shelter for one of the cats that live permanently at our SPCA because they cannot be re-homed – with your monthly sponsorship gift of just R200.

Volunteer

Volunteering is an enriching experience for anyone who has some free time on a regular basis and wants to make a difference. You need to be over 16 years of age, reliable and have your own transport.

Get a MySchool Card

It costs you nothing, and you'll help animals every time you swipe the card at Woolworths and other participating stores. Be sure to nominate Durban & Coast SPCA as the beneficiary. Download the app from the Apple store or Google play, or click the button to sign up online.

Donate in lieu of a gift

Helping to make a better world for animals is the perfect way to honour a friend or loved one who prefers not to receive gifts for a birthday, anniversary or other celebration.

Support Coffee Cats

Enjoy a cuppa or a light meal in the tranquil setting of our cafe and tea garden. Meet our famous yard cats, browse plants for sale, visit our charity shop or Adoption Centre.

Include us in your Will

If kindness towards animals has been one of the guiding principles of your life, wouldn’t you enjoy knowing that your voice against cruelty, neglect, greed and ignorance will continue to be heard beyond your lifetime?

Donate unwanted items

Your unwanted furniture, clothing, household appliances, books, jewellery, etc can be sold in our charity shop to raise funds towards the care of our furry orphans. We also appreciate gifts of pet food, blankets, etc.

Collect small change for us

If you own or manage a retail outlet or are a member of a club, why not keep one of our collection tins on your counter? Small change mounts up quickly and makes a big difference to our Society!

Shop til you drop

We have a charity shop filled with amazing bargains, as well as a section of brand new pet products – collars & leads, tick & flea remedies, grooming products, toys & pet food.

Buy plants

Fill your garden with beautiful healthy plants, seedlings, flowers and more. Large selection available at our nursery, adjacent to Coffee Cats.

Sponsor a kennel

When you sponsor a kennel at the SPCA at a cost of R200 monthly, your kindness doesn't only touch one dog. Hundreds of sad, hurting and frightened dogs will find sanctuary in 'your' kennel, while they wait to be adopted.

Report cruelty

Animals can't speak for themselves - they need compassionate people to speak for them. If you know of an animal that is being ill treated or neglected, call us on 031 579 6501 or our emergency after hours number, 083 212 6103.
