Follow our tips to help keep your pets cool and comfortable in Summer

1. Never leave your pet in a parked car – even if it’s in the shade. Temperatures can reach dangerous levels in minutes; your pet could suffer heatstroke or even die.
2. Make sure water bowls are topped up often with cool, fresh water.
3. If your dog or cat spends a lot of time outdoors, apply a sunscreen to ear tips and around the nose, where hair is sparser.
4. Keep up a regular programme of protection against ticks and fleas.
5. Limit ‘walkies’ to early morning or evening and avoid walking your dog on hot pavements or tar.
