This beaming smile says it all. Thank you for funding a spanking new van for Inspector Thabang. In the coming months and years, it will carry him to the rescue of thousands of abused, neglected, abandoned and injured animals, and bring them safely back to our SPCA for treatment.
Thabang’s mom was an animal lover and he grew up surrounded by pets. He really does love ‘all creatures great and small’. Apart from the usual dogs and cats, he recently showed the same compassion to an injured hadada ibis and, his most traumatic case in Gauteng, 68 pigs that were left for over seven months without food and water.
So desperate for food were these poor animals that they began eating each other. Thabang opened a case of cruelty against the owner.
Thabang has trained himself not to get angry when dealing with cases of animal cruelty. But he can’t escape feeling the animals’ pain in his own heart. “It’s what makes me wake up every morning wanting to be out there preventing cruelty,” he says. “That’s the only way I can deal with the pain – to do something to stop cruelty.”
Thank you for walking beside Inspector Thabang as he strives to protect all animals.
