Shy Lily blossoms

Late last year, we received a call about a stray dog that was living in a hole she had dug for herself near the railway line in Grimsby Road, Mobeni.

When Inspector Ramsamy went there, he found a very nervous little girl. It was clear she had been fending for herself for quite a while. She was terrified of our Inspector and wouldn’t let him near – probably someone had hurt or frightened her in the past.

Inspector Ramsamy left food and water for the little dog, and asked nearby security guards to help with feeding her until he could catch her. Over the next few weeks, he went back ten times to try and gain Lily’s trust. Finally, with the help of Inspector Moloi, he was able to coax her into the van and bring her back to our SPCA.

Lily spent over two months here, gaining confidence and blossoming into a happy, loving little dog. When the Westhuysen family fell in love with her, and we heard the adoption bell ring out, it was just the best feeling ever, knowing that Lily’s life had been completely turned around.
