National Book Week
Competition – enter now

Calling all kids age 5-16

Let's have some fun during National Book Week, from 6-12 September.

You've probably heard about it at school, and know that it's all about encouraging kids to value books and reading. Because, it's not only fun to read an exciting story, you can also learn a lot about other people and places ... plus reading helps improve your spelling too.

But here's something you probably didn't know. Your dog or cat loves listening to stories too! They might not understand what the book's about, but they love to hear your voice reading out loud to them. So that's what we're asking you to do.

Enter the SPCA Book Week Challenge by filling out the form below. Entries are just R50 each and there are lots of fun prizes to be won. You'll get a unique e-book, "Fruitbat, the dog who dreamed she could fly," by Denise Murray, that you can start reading right away. You also get a Book Log to keep a record of how many pages or books you read during the week.

All you need to do is find a shady spot in the garden, or curl up on your bed and read a story to your pet. Get mom or dad to take a picture, or take a selfie and share it with us. Proceeds from the competition go towards the cost of caring for neglected, ill treated and unwanted animals at our SPCA. So you'll help other dogs and cats just by entering the competition.
