Team SPCA

Your support was the best Christmas gift. Thank you!

Many, many thanks to all our wonderful supporters who made generous donations over the festive season to ensure we had everything we needed to cope with the huge influx of lost, abandoned, unwanted and rescued dogs and cats needing our care.

Our Inspectorate was kept very busy, with over 200 calls for collections of stray and unwanted animals and over 1800 calls to action – from complaints, follow ups and rescues, to pro-active checks and pre-home checks.

Thankfully there were no fireworks related injuries reported this New Year.

Altogether, we admitted 400 animals, most of which are still here. We received 33 reports of lost pets, but only 10 have been claimed by their owners. If you, or anyone you know, had a pet go missing over the holidays, please visit our SPCA to check if they’re here. Or call the Kennels Department during office hours (Mon-Fri 8am– 4pm & Sat 8am – 12.30pm) on 031 579 6524/6 to complete a lost pet report.

Microchipping is the best and easiest way to find lost pets. Why wait until your furry friend goes missing? You can have them microchipped here at our SPCA. Please contact us to book an appointment.

And if you’re thinking of adding a new pet to your family, please consider adopting from us, rather than buying from a pet shop or breeder. We have so many playful and affectionate animals up for adoption right now … all desperate for loving new homes.
