Energetic . . . cheerful . . . dedicated . . . compassionate - words on paper cannot begin to describe the generosity of spirit that lives within the heart of long-time volunteer, Pam McNamara. For over 20 years, she has been coming to our SPCA every week to brighten the lives of stray, unwanted and ill-treated dogs and cats in our care.
And she never comes empty handed! With her comes a large, battered shopping bag filled with chunks of polony. Every dog and cat in the adoption block gets at least two to three pieces … as does every one of the yard cats.
After dishing out the treats, Pam takes each of the dogs out for a walk and some play time in the exercise yard. Inevitably, over the years, Pam has adopted many dogs from the SPCA. Apart from one notable exception – a beautiful long haired German Shepherd – she always takes the dogs no one else wants.
“I just want to give them some happiness,” she explains. It’s the same reason she keeps on volunteering, year after year.
We are so fortunate to have special people like Pam helping us in our work for animals. Not everyone has the time or the temperament to work directly with the dogs and cats at the SPCA. But we can all do something to help. Whether you donate your time, your talents or your money – we thank you sincerely for supporting us, and bless you for having a heart for animals.
