One down, eight to go

Jazzy the cat nearly forfeited one of his nine lives, before being rescued from a precarious 12th floor ledge of the Royal Hotel by Inspector Lucas Moloi.

After hotel staff called our SPCA, Inspector Moloi climbed out on the ledge and caught the frightened animal with the help of a net. The cat had no injuries but was incredibly thirsty, leading us to believe he had been stuck on the ledge for several days.

He was reunited with his owner, Jillian Jarmin, two days later, after the story appeared in The Daily News and a friend of hers recognised a picture of the cat.

Jazzy certainly seems to have been born under a lucky star – safely navigating busy roads to get to the hotel from his home in Acutt Street. Now that he’s safely home, we hope his adventures will come to an end.
