In late October last year we received a call from a member of the public who had noticed a dog in the Umgeni river on his way to work. Although the water level was low, the high walls in that section of the river had trapped the scared animal.
Inspector Moloi was on emergency duty and responded to the call. When he arrived on the scene, he called to the dog who ran towards him and waited patiently until a second Inspector arrived with a ladder, and the dog was carried to safety.
Although the dog was in good health and obviously well cared for, sadly no one came forward to claim her.
Fortunately she was adopted soon afterwards – her sweet friendly nature made her the ideal companion for a lady like Mrs Harvey – and we’re sure the two will share many happy days together.
